Generic software is built for everyone, which means it's rarely built for you. It often forces you to change how you work to fit the package, comes bundled with features you'll never use, and can lock you into ongoing subscription costs for capability you don't need. Custom software and databases are designed around your actual processes, your stock, your customers, your reporting, your workflow, so the system works for you, not the other way around. As your business grows or changes, purpose-built software can grow with it, rather than needing to be replaced.
When you engage an off-the-shelf provider, you're one of thousands of customers talking to a support queue somewhere else in the country, or the world. When you work with a local developer, you're talking directly to the person who built your system. Changes, fixes, and new features can be discussed face-to-face if needed, turned around quickly, and shaped by someone who understands South West businesses and the way they operate. You're also supporting a business in your own region, not sending your money interstate or overseas.
When we build tailored software or a database for your business, it's yours. You own the intellectual property, plain and simple. There's no complex licensing agreement designed to limit what you can do with it, restrict who can use it, or hand back control to us down the track. You paid for it, you own it, and you're free to use it as your business needs. We build for whatever systems your business already runs on, and work with the databases you already have in place, so you're not forced into a particular setup just to work with us.
With a local business requiring tracking customer credit purchases we created an application to save purchases to an online database, we called the application Denarius after the Roman coin. The proprietor received a weekly report showing how much the customer owed and was able to invoice them.
Denarius used a simple touch interface that showed the products on sale and allowed the operator to quickly select to the benefit of both the customer and the business. There was even a docket printer to show the customer their purchase and balance.
